It all started when the cougar jumped on the hood of my car one night…
Cougars are not native to my part of the world so not only did the big cat frighten me, but it intrigued me, also. Where had it come from? What was it doing here? And why was it attacking people when the woods are full of deer?
And now, the mysterious and handsome Alex Smith is paying me more attention than usual - which is fine with me.I've had a thing for Alex for years. Just as I'm getting to know him better, it looks like he’s hiding something.
Add the wildlife experts that were called in to handle the cougar problem and I have one hell of a mess on my hands - especially since I'm the only person whose seen the cougar and lived to tell about it.
As things with Alex heat up, the wildlife guys are constantly pestering me to give them more information than what I have - and telling me tall tales about shape-shifters. Like I believe that garbage.
But some of the things they are saying start to make sense. It certainly keeps me up at night, thinking.
People are still dying and no one can seem to catch the elusive cat.
Then Alex tells me his big secret - one that puts things into perspective - but I don't like it much.
Ben and Kyle, the wildlife guys, fill my mind with all sorts of things - including stuff about Alex and his brothers.
Who am I supposed to believe and what am I supposed to do about it?
And how had my perfect life suddenly shifted?

A good story with engaging characters, but there are some minor editing issues. For example, Alex and Mya had an identical conversation about staying off backroads twice; although it was reasonable for the topic to come up again after the first conversation, the second conversation shouldn't have sounded like it was the first time they discussed it.
