I can definitely see why someone wanted to kill this man as he used people, including his friends and fellow immigrants, to make himself rich. Not surprised at all that multiple people were happy he was gone and wished they could have “done him in.” Who killed him surprised and saddened me; both men were fathers and husbands that were taken away from their families. Sad how some nice people can snap from desperation, and how a desire to never live in poverty again turned a man into a greedy asshole. Rating is a 3.75 as the writing could have been better but was still compelling.

I enjoyed this book as it happened in areas that I know about living in the Twin Cities. So it’s kind of freaky when this happened. I decided I needed to finally read the book. It’s also interesting because my best friend knows the wife, Ellen, because she is a dental hygienist too.
