I have read so many books on the importance of free-play, outdoor time, and reducing screen time, and this (now) 25-year-old study amazing put all of those much more recent studies together in one 100-page study that still, amazingly, is nearly completely NOT outdated. This study should serve as a manual for all parents, educators, and citizens of a world that believes in positive development and growth. After reading it, I immediately stopped by the 100 yen story to buy a magnifying glass with my daughter and then walked through the woods for 30 minutes exploring followed by getting some free plants (including hydrangea) from neighbors to plant them in our garden. I’ve also been turning off my phone right when I get home from work. Life is good. Life is better!

All parents, teachers, and citizens of this better world: read this study and put it into play!!
Don’t keep staring at Fool’s Gold!!
