*My most sincere thanks to David C. Cook for sending me an e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. These thoughts are entirely my own.*
1.5⭐️ read unfortunately and this is a hard review to write because I respect writers vulnerability in putting together works for others to consume and hopefully benefit from. With that said, this would be the worst book I’ve read this year due to how boring and elementary it was. I can see where this would be a good resource for new believers or people who may not have had much encouragement or read other books with similar information. This read more like small podcast episodes of many different women speaking briefly, short stories that were basic, practical tips that are already very common and lots of scripture references (which is the best part), but little that the author added to it sadly.
The chapters in this book were relatable and encouraging in just the right season of life for me. The writing and depth, however, is more suitable for YA, so I’d recommend this book for college age girls. The only aspect of the book I would change is the “purposeful chat” in each chapter. These sections felt unnecessary, which is the reason for a four star rating.
I chose it because I was out of borrows on my library app and it was a bonus borrow. Lots of the same reframing and keeping the long-game in mind. Neat approach with including Bible verses and the "turn it over to God" stuff. not my cup of tea overall, but has many useful action steps which is critical for a book like this to be useful.
