Although born into the prestigious Sturgeon family, young Sumner spends his days asking himself what it is he wants to do with his life. That is until he sees the much talked about lift boarder, B.B. Having witnessed B.B.'s victorious performance in a tournament, Sumner can't wait to meet him. But when he steps into B.B.'s dressing room, he walk's in on a girl who's only halfway dressed and nothing will be the same again...! This is the story of young Ruri and Sumner, the characters from Playstation 2's Eureka SeveN video games. now in their own original manga! Based on the hit anime series and video games!
"E7 Gravity Boys and Lifting Girl' is Prequel to the Games 'Eureka Seven PS2 Games Vol. 1 New Wave and Vol. 2 New Vision'. The games are also a prequel to the main series 'Eureka Seven Psalms of the Planet'.
The first novel starts off very generic with our main character (same in the games aswell but not the main series) who is a young adolescent boy named Sumner Sturgent, unsure of the life he wants to lead until one day an in incident causes him to bump into a future love interest. The love interest herself is also on a journey of self discovery. Ruri, A female ref boarder in a male dominated sport, keeps her gender hidden and adopting the alias B.B. to enter the towns various ref boarding contest. we bump into other characters who will play slightly bigger parts in the games along the way. overall its a nice world building addition to the Eureka Seven Saga unfortunately this is only a small piece obviously meant to push game sales at the time. Understand both the prequel books and Prequel games have little to do with the main story other then to provide unrewarding camoes later on in the saga(IF you can spot them) aside from the world building they provide not much other then fun anecdotes to meant flesh out a larger story.
tldr; so this a not so fulfilling pieces of lore since you need to ingest two dated games to get the full story of Just these characters. Stick to the main series.
Even though I watched the anime series Eureka Seven and was entertained by it, this manga feels like it's lacking something. I'm not sure if it's because of the characters or the forced idea the author is trying to convey in Volume 1.

from Bookrags: Eureka Seven, known in Japan as Psalms of Planets Eureka seveN, is a mecha anime TV series by Bones. Eureka Seven tells the story of Renton Thurston and the outlaw group Gekkostate, his relationship with the enigmatic mecha pilot Eureka, and the mystery of the Coralians.
I did not finish this one. I could not get into the characters or the plot.
I don't remember how many times I tried to read this, but this time I forced myself through it. Was it worth it? Not at all. Instead of giving a long list of negatives, I'll just say that I can't think of any positives.
