Ronald Pierce Ely was an American actor and novelist, best known for portraying Tarzan in the 1966–1968 NBC series Tarzan and playing the lead role in the film Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze (1975). He hosted the Miss America pageant telecast in 1980 and 1981.

I’m just sorry Ron Ely only wrote two Jake Sands books. Prior to his death I had no idea he was an author as well as an actor. On a whim I bought both books (used) and am glad I did. I really liked Jake Sands and found myself rooting for him. Both books reminded me of the old time tough guy films/books. And both had solid endings. Any flaws in the stories or writing were covered by the twists, turns and suspense.
