How I Made $1,000,000 Trading Commodities Last Year

Rate this book
This fascinating book is loaded with practical information designed to help you in the commodity market. The author's method...proven by his million dollar success...does not involve complicated math or subjective evaluation. There are two completely systematic methods; %R and Momentum. The essence fo these methods is that they tell you if the super powers are long or short; when the super powers expect a major move to start; what commodities are in true bull or bear markets; when to start buying and when to sell for gargantuan profits. This book is a must if you're a stock or commodity trader. It will expose to you an exciting new approach to trading and thinking―the same approach that has made Larry Williams a millionaire.

The technical parts are a little outdated (not surprisingly) but the core advice when it comes to the psychology of trading is still valid to this day. Not on the mandatory reading list but couldn't hurt you either.

Somewhere between a motivational book and a practitioners guide, this book was in print before there was the internet with its online trading brokerages and data providers. Yet, at first reading more than 20 years ago, and perhaps more impressionable, I was fully absorbed by its contents. It remains a good book, though lots of war stories, occasionally poorly structured sentences, numerous typos and needless frivolities, it's not quite a milestone but still gladly added to my library. It is also one of the few trading books that comprehensively discusses the use of open interest in a trading plan. Necessarily the book is showing its age, for example regarding references to no longer existing brokers, or with a sentence like "To plot your charts, use a nice, crisp-looking paper."

I am a bit conflicted by this book. On the one hand it appears to offer several really good pieces of advice on how to trade commodity futures, on the other hand it also seems a bit kookoo in places. For example, there is the chapter where the author argues that the waxing and waning of the moon influences the rise and fall in prices of certain commodities, or the several chapters about technical analysis - although I must say author keeps a very healthy scepsis on such techniques.

I will definitely revisit this booklet.

A candid and concise book on commodities, of course some of the tricks may be deprecated but some of the information in this book is pure gold. (If you know what i did there)
