Might be because of pre-dating, but this book has no knowledge of advertising mode or extended inquiry response. 'Announce the presence of a device: It is not possible for a Bluetooth device to do the equivalent of shouting.'

Decent practical guide to writing higher-level applications using Bluetooth, but not good enough to write anything requiring any manipulation of the Bluetooth protocols.
