This book is the perfect resource for new grads or MBA students. Although its target audience is job seekers who want to step into a consulting, operations, marketing, or analytics-related role in tech, the advice in this book has broader applications beyond just tech roles.

Here are some of the things that I particularly enjoyed about the book:
- Up-to-date information – it’s the most current resource on this topic!
- Insider information – sheds light on the hiring processes in FAANG with specific tips.
- Extremely practical – walks you through clear and specific examples of how to answer interview questions, how to interact and network with contacts when looking for a job, how to write a resume etc.
- Broader scope than most titles – looks in-depth at all types of interview questions including general, behavioral, case, technical and take-home but also goes beyond just interview guidance including how to network, get a referral, and write a resume as well as how to succeed after you land the role.
- Author is perfectly placed to provide insider insights – she has experienced this process first-hand as a relatively new graduate who has built an impressive career in Meta and Google. She has also mentored the target readership toward success in their careers.

Overall, a really awesome book. If I could give it ten stars I would. If you're serious about getting a business role in tech, make this (small) investment in your career!

Amy paints an excellent picture of what it's like and how to get into a BizOps career path. Even if you are not interested in a career switch, this book has tons of job advice. Reading this book will give you the drive to further your career. I've never heard of BizOps until picking up this book but it was fascinating to learn about it.

Get this book! It is a comprehensive guide that covers how to: 1) build a standout resume that becomes one of the 2% that actually gets looked at, 2) crush the interview to get a top offer, and 3) (my favorite) grow a successful career/personal brand after you're in the job. I loved how Amy provides a sneak peek at what recruiters and hiring managers are looking for in top candidates so you can become one.

The book is full of actionable & tactical advice to follow so keep this book close by as you go through every stage of the interview process. I truly believe this book could shortcut your journey to your dream career by years. There is no higher ROI for someone starting their journey to the career they want, so don't hesitate!

“How to Land a Strategy Role in Tech” by Amy Sun Yan is a comprehensive guide for landing a job in tech business operations. Although this book aims at providing guidance for those who want to break into business operations, I found that the shared insights and experiences lend well to any tech job search.

The book provides a step-by-step guidance in sequential order of the job search process beginning from defining the role to how to succeed once you land the job. The author has a very deep knowledge of the technical side of business and she is incredibly sharp and provides keen insights into the behavioral and people skills needed to be a successful candidate. Each chapter is written with clear objectives, a wide spectrum of possible scenarios to expect during the job search process, followed by concrete examples to demonstrate the points given. The writing is concise, to-the-point, no fluff, practical and super easy to digest. In the technical interview questions chapters found toward the end of the book, the author demonstrates examples with lots of tables and diagrams, which I found helpful for connecting the insights and tips to real world situations. I also learned a lot about frameworks for market strategies in tech business. I found nearly every topic and page so useful that I’ve dog-eared a good portion of the book.

If you are looking for a resource to help guide you in the job search as you transition careers into tech or if you are looking to enter business operations or any other role in tech, I highly recommend this one-stop comprehensive guide. I am certainly using all the tips and resources provided in “How to Land a Strategy Role in Tech” in my own job search journey.

This book offers nothing new. It’s on the similar lines of Cracking the PM interview. At the time, I was trying hard to get into StratOps/BizOps role but I was not getting a breakthrough. Hence, I decided to buy this. But having studied Gayle McDowell’s book beforehand, this read was a disappointment. The content is similar to his work. Some To-Dos at the start and later interview prep. However, if one is in college, and doesn’t network to understand how market works, book like these could be transformative to an extent. Overall, not impressed with Amy Sun Yan’s work.
