Red Strings: A short story

Rate this book
The red strings of fate were just a story told since ancient times. They supposedly connect soulmates together, gently guiding them to one another. If you were to ask engaged couple Flynn and Stella, they would have told you they were meant to be together. That is until the world woke up and suddenly everyone could see these red strings. The only problem was, their strings weren't connected.

As the youngest child, I always had to use my imagination to entertain myself while I grew up in the 1980's. That imagination served me well over the years and eventually made me a bit of a storyteller as I became an adult.

Getting lost in a good story has always been my favorite way to escape and I hope to create more worlds for others to escape to. I have a love for all things paranormal and strange, which I think translates into my stories. I also love nothing more than challenging the norms on occasion, so don't be surprised if you find characters that aren't what you would traditionally think in my worlds. No matter what, though, I want them to be relatable, even the villains. Because we are all the villain in someone else's story.

An entertaining short listen. Flynn and Stella love each other. They are planning their wedding. Then the red string.........It is believed that it connects soul mates to each other. They wake and are not connected!?! What now?
This book is too short to have much depth. But still entertaining. I am left with alot of questions.

The author is the narrator. She knows her book. She is easy to understand. I would have liked to hear more emotion in her presentation, and she maybe reads a little too fast.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from the author through Story Origin.

This short story explores that you are not necessarily fated to love who you think you are. Flynn and Stella thought they were soulmates. When they could see their red strings, they found they did not connect to each other. As the story develops we follow the path of where the red string brings them.
The story line is interesting. I feel the narration was choppy, which contributed to my inability to stay focused. I don’t know if this is from the writing, or just the speech pattern. The voice is pleasant enough.

Stella and Flynn are newlyweds, but the next morning they realise everyone has a red string tied around their wrist, which connects to their own soul mate. Theirs don't connect, so starts a hunt for their soul mate. It is a difficult concept to visualise: red strings all around the world connecting two people. Stella and Flynn are also too quick to believe their marriage isn't strong enough than their fated relationship with strangers.

Audiobook: I enjoyed this short story. The premise was cute, but my prevailing thought was, would I trust my fate to a piece of red string? I did like the story, but since there was no real character development, I didn't get emotionally invested in it. It was a pleasant way to spend about 40 minutes. Krystal Doolittle's narration was fine as her diction was easy to understand. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
