With the second book in the Dark Mafia series, Miss Pierce does not disappoint one iota. The character driven plot that starts off from the first page, Broken Bishop certainly does not disappoint. The characters Anna White and Liam Mullen captivate the reader from the get go. The fast paced plot takes off from the first chapter, leaving reader to continue on the path from on chapter to the next,
Anna White is trapped in the Robinson gang by her father being in jail and the debt he owes, Her only option is to become a spy for Andrey Robinson, the Boss of the gang. But what that entails becomes a true love story to the rival gang boss Liam Mullen.
Liam Mullen comes back from Ireland after his mother is assassinated by his evil Uncle Sean. He comes back to get revenge on the Mullins involved. Not to fall in love with the spy sent by a rival gang.
What transpires between Anna and Liam is a romance for the ages. But one that is clouded by the lies Anna used for spying, and Liam’s closed off approach with his business. Does the relationship survive what has happened between the two? Can the gangs get along in a peace treaty?

This is book 2 in Faye Pierces checkmate series. I would recommend reading book 1 first but it is not completed necessary. I did not read the first one yet and jumped right into this one.

Like the first book, this second book is just brilliant, with the right amount of evil mixed with the right amount of passion.
Book two is Anna and Liam's book, it is so well written, and it draws you in from the start wondering what will happen when Liam finds out who Anna is and who she is working for, will he kill her or send her away?
The last thing Anna wanted to do was betray Liam, when they first met, she had no idea who he was or he was the target, but she fell for him and had to keep up her lies to get her father out of jail, it killed her deceiving him but when he found out all hell broke loose, how could they recover from this?
To fully understand this book I would suggest you read Broken Pawn first, both books are brilliant and so well written, an easy 5 stars.

it's good to read
Broken Bishop is another interesting novel. About Anna who wants to help her father get out of prison. causing her to betray the man she loves Liam (Which I won't spoil you lol) and she tried to fix it. Especially when she said Just ask him to tell her how to fix it. She's ready to do anything. She tries to show Liam that he is important to her too. Even she insisted that if she had to do it again to help her father, she would. To me, Liam really loved Anna and he tried everything for her. Although their story is filled with excitement and twists. But the ending was beautiful, I was impressed.

In order to help her father get out of prison, Anna is forced to betray Liam, for a vicious Mafia boss. Liam is the new up and coming Mafia head of the Mullen family and the target. Anna accidentally meets Liam when he rushes her to a hospital after his car almost crashes into her and doesn't leave her side. I enjoyed Anna and Liam's banter and their sizzling chemistry and steamy hot sex. As Anna finds herself falling for Liam, the role she has to play is tearing her apart. This well written dark mafia story is filled with danger and suspense that kept me turning the pages and wanting to know more. Loved it and the Extended Epilogue.

The love I have for these characters is insane. Faye Pierce is a master of the tense mafia enemies to lovers story and I will never get enough! I’m so glad we got to know Anna in book 2, and the match she had in Liam is… *chef’s kiss*
I love the depth Pierce gives each character and seeing the progression as the story goes on—never a dull moment!
Personally, I prefer to go in blind and never check a trigger warning, but there are a couple situations that may be triggering so definitely check the warnings!

Great read!
It took me a little bit to get into this one but I'm glad I stuck with it. Anna and Liam are destined to be together falling deeply in love without even realizing it, but with hurt and betrayal, it almost seems like there will be no coming back from the emotional and physical trauma.
I was halfway through the book before I even realized, so it does get better once that first 10 pages moves forward.
Stick with it, it's a great read!

Betrayal
So, now comes Anna's story. Antispation has me antsy, the first of this duet was off the chain good. This is working on the nerves, in the lion's den of thieves. Poor Anna and Liam while oblivious of the work behind the scenes, this is an awesome good book. I am giving this five stars. I have laughed cried and cringed, and cheered. Betrayal is a powerful thing but so is Love. I volunteered to read and review an advance reader copy.

Not what I was expecting ❤️
This is a new author to me. This is a perfect story. I believe this is an interconnecting standalone; I didn’t feel I needed to read Book 1 to understand the other characters or the overarching plot. Liam and Anna are one another’s calm to each other’s storm. This was a fantastic read.

I really liked this book. The way this book is written, made me feel connected to the settings and characters. I found myself looking forward to the next page/chapter. I just thought the way the book was going, there was going to be a bigger twist to it. Still, overall, a very well written book that I enjoyed reading.

A very deep dark and thought provoking story by our author. Full of intrigue, angst, danger, lies, steam and a cat and mouse plot. A good book to read on a stormy day in front of a fire. Prepare to get lost in the world Faye has designed so well with intimidating characters and softies too.

Liam and Anna, oh my goodness. Their story is so incredible. I couldn’t wait to see where it led. Faye Pierce does the absolute best at writing mafia dark romance and never disappoints me! If that’s your thing, grab this book! You won’t want to put it down!

Lots of twists and turns in this interesting and very passionate mafia story. Intriguing plotting going on with everyone trying to out-trick each other and kill or take over the other organization. Plus a very soul-deep romantic liaison that added heat and spice to an already very good story.
