It's a celebration year round in Holiday Corner, a scenic small town tucked away in Vermont. Candy canes, garlands, ornaments, wreaths and more - who would expect to find a dead body?
Certainly not the owners of Candy Cane Carriages, provider of winter sleigh rides. Nor their twin granddaughters, Candi and Mandi Winter who have come to help them run the business.
But when Gavin Foster, a local photographer and animal rights activist is found dead in one of their sleighs, they find one of them will be accused of his murder.
Slay Ride is Book 3 in the Holiday Corner Christmas Cozy Mystery series. Enjoy all the cozy mystery short reads in the series…
Donna was destined to be a writer - in the 4th grade she took her toy typewriter and painstakingly typed out the neighborhood news, one copy at a time, and sold it to the neighbors for ten cents. But writing would take a back seat to 30+ years in the IT industry.
A late in life lover of adventure, she learned to ride a motorcycle at age 55, traveled the US solo on her Harley-Davidson at age 58 (42 states and 27k miles), selling her home and everything she owned to become a full-time RVer eventually where she met her current husband. They continued traveling in their 41' fifth wheel trailer (with room for their two motorcycles). In 2012 she decided to give fiction writing a try. Her first book, "Home Again" was a romance, quickly followed by the first two books in her Klondike Mystery series, "Not a Whisper" and "Barely a Spark".
Her latest adventure? Living in Cuenca, Ecuador where she continues her writing.

The twins come to Holiday Corner for the summer and end up in the middle of a murder investigation. They end up helping the sheriff with leads that lead to the conclusion.
I would recommend this series and author to readers of family and friends relationships mystery novels. 2024
Holiday Corner is in full swing of the Christmas season. There are sleigh rides and fun. There is a murder of a photographer. Several suspects emerge. The crime is done by outsiders to the town.
I really enjoyed meeting Randy, Cathi and their two granddaughters who they hoped they could talk into taking over their sleigh and carriage ride business. I liked the girls a lot and it was cute how each one found a guy in town to hang out with, although aspiring veterinarian Candi claimed it was just business when she'd hang out with Dr. Cole, the town's cute, young vet who came out to care for the horses. Mandi liked the new employee Morgan that her grandpa hired to help with the horses and rides.
I had a feeling of whodunit but not the why, so I enjoyed seeing Mandi, the business/tech brain of the two girls sleuth it out online and find some good evidence she took to Sheriff Frank. The third book in the trilogy ended with the perfect Christmas and tree lighting now that all the cases were taken care of.
3.5⭐️ - Very short, quick Christmas read. This is Book 3 of 3 in a series written by different authors. I thought that was interesting concept and was interested to see the differences in writing. I was a little confused about whether the books are written to take place simultaneously or if the timeline continues from book to book. Events that happened in the first two books didn't seem to have taken place while reading this book. I don't know. I was a little confused about that. Not that it matters. These are just very short stories and they were entertaining. The covers alone made me want to read them.
This is the third book in the Holiday Corner Christmas Cozy Mystery Series. It's interesting how different authors can write different books in a series and stay on track. A new set of twins in town to visit their grandparents who run the sleigh rides. A death of a protester who is claiming the horses are abused but he is found in a sleigh in the barn. A stranger with a cookie truck rolls into town, turns out she's linked with a drug ring traveling around and they are responsible for several things in town.
The final book in a three book series set in Vermont. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, this series won't disappoint. Strong main characters that work together to solve mysteries that threaten to upset the holiday spirit in their little town. I was intrigued with the idea of a series being written by three different authors. I was not disappointed.
A short holiday mystery in Holiday Corner. These stories are short (about the time it takes to slowly drink a cup or 2 of tea) but very entertaining. There are sweet dogs, a little romance (no sex), mysteries to solve (no graphic violence) , recipes!, and no cliffhanger teaser endings. So, curl up in your comfy chair with a mug of tea and enjoy….I did!
Slay Ride: Holiday Corner Christmas Cozy Mystery Book 3
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Slay Ride. It was set in a Christmas village with characters that were went well with the story. It had some twists and a sleigh with a horse. Loved the story!
You've got to love a story set in Holiday Corner. Now I want a Cookie Box truck in our village. I loved the charm of the setting and the wonderful characters. I highly recommend this book!
Cute little Cozy Mystery set at Christmas in a small town. When a body turns up, all the locals start whispering and of course the usual small town gossip.
