This book serves to fill a void that many other books that seek to address trusting God in trying times miss. Namely, an elevation of the character of God and the magnificence of our salvation in Christ over and against the perception of trials and human desires. To the end, that the former considerations triumph indisputably. That is, the character of God and the magnificence of our salvation in Christ informs our perception and ultimate desires in life. The glory of God and the goodness of His dealings to His people help believers to comprehend the grandness of His plan and therefore bow in humble submission to the sovereign purposes of our Lord and Savior. In other words, we should trust God during trying times to such an extent that the means to conform us to Christ and bring Him glory give us no cause for distress. That is not to dismiss the natural emotions or discomforts or questions that arise from such trials, but that in the end we truly trust God.

This book is short, the chapters are short, but the spiritual benefit of those who take this material to heart are immense. I cannot recommend this book enough as a filter to view trials BEFORE they come, not after. Mind you, they will come… the only question is, will you trust God during the trying times that the Lord will bring to pass?

A great book for when you or someone you know is going through a trial and you are uncertain of why God would allow this to happen to you. I would especially recommend reading even if you are not facing a current trial so that you are prepared for the next one. I will keep this on my book shelf to reread and remember the importance of trials in our life and how to take them on. Love the personal story from Don Green that helps teach these biblical truths.

The author takes great care explaining how God can and must be trusted by using the book of Habakkuk. The book is a delightful read, even with this intense subject because the author gives real answers to very real and very hard questions.
