I've read a bunch of "Workplace Survival" books - but none that come close to this one.

John White knows what he's talking about and doesn't hold punches exposing the corporate bull$hit that we all know exists. He does so from real world experiences, as well as using inside information provided to him by managers/directors he has worked with.

The best part of the book are the "tips" that he offers throughout each chapter - and then repeats them at the end of the chapter.

There aren't many people that I know of who truly love their job - especially if they work in a corporate environment - but if you are one, this book isn't for you.

However, if you are a working stiff, busting your a$$ for supervisors, managers, directors, and owners who "appreciate" the work you do but want more from you with less from them - well you need to find a copy of this book, and read it. You attitude or position may not change, but you will obtain ways to circumvent, or at the very least tolerate, your job until it's time to move on.

I will most certainly reread this book - probably monthly - until the tips finally set in and I can smile at work again.

a series of pithy memoirs, really, of a guy and every job he's ever had (or so it seems). I don't know what it says about my background but I identified with a lot of the insights, lessons, and adjustments he went through along the way.

of all the business books I've read this is the only one I'd like to have in my house and re-read, for fun.

its got lots of typos and its so annoying because its happening every few minutes.
