The content gets 2 stars. The art can have 4 or 5. I did not love the lessons in this book. One specifically did not sit well with me. Thumbelina killed a black moth for insufficient reasons and did not at all try to resolve the issues they had with him by non-violent means. If you think it is no big deal, because it’s just a bug, you must realize that Thumbelina lives among the forest creatures, and they are her talking friends. They did not at all try to make peace with the moth; she just went and essentially murdered it and then they had a party to celebrate it. It very much surprised me.

This collection of tales is sweet and wholesome. Wonderful for 3-5 year old little girls. There are several Thumbelina stories and others about a group of sisters. What is especially nice is that there are questions incorporated into the book for you to ask your child while you are reading to them that relate to the story. I have had to buy another copy as it is so well-loved, it had fallen apart by the time it reached my third daughter. The art work is adorable, too. Highly recommended for girly-girls - fans of Fancy Nancy, Angelina, etc.
