I love the poems, verses, and thoughts and sayings, but the writing prompts don't always correlate with the daily verse. It seems like I start every response with, "I'm not sure," or "I don't know..." The prompts are often confusing and repetitive.

My son read through the journal some. He liked the poems; he thought they were nice. And they are. It's just that the "thought for the day" and the "writing prompt" don't often collate. I would like it better if the prompt had something to do with the poem, verse, and thought.

I felt like some of the prompts didn't appeal to me at all. Example: "What do you like about the dark?" (June 22) "What Bible verse can you plant in your heart as a shield against loneliness?" (August 10) "How can you be God's hands today?" (August 29) "How can you grow in wisdom?" (October 25). I found myself having difficulty answering some of the questions.

Aesthetically, it's a beautiful book. I just didn't feel a connection with the author.

Okay, I wasn't able to finish this because I have to take a break from writing, but I really loved it! I loved the questions and getting to write down my thoughts.
