I believe I found this book when I was first searching for books to put on my Kindle; as with many on my "to-read" list, I added it and promptly forgot about it in search of other things.
This is a solid 3-star book. A mysterious stranger descends on a small Indiana town. He's dashing, from New York City, and was wounded in the War. However, is Courtney Thane all he claims to be? And what of the impenetrable Alix Crown, a young, beautiful woman with her own storied past?
Pretty good once it gets going. Mr. McCutcheon built up some good suspense.
This book had a slow start which I almost gave up on. About half into the story, it became clear that someone was up to mischief. The ending took me by surprise.
