The author has a very pleasant writing style that's incredibly easy to follow. He is also incredibly knowledgeable of the European Theatre, and this is demonstrated by his rather lopsided focus over the Allied battle against Germany. But when it came to his coverage of the Pacific Theatre he seems to be regurgitating whatever information any student of history might have already seen in many documentaries over the conflict (which is not exactly "bad", but further information on the conflict, particularly its background [how Pearl Harbour wasn't the start of U.S.-Japan hostilities/how the U.S. was hypocritical in its approach over Japan's need for resources has resulted in the Second World War] would have made this book a five star one, considering that the prelude to the war in Europe is extensively covered in the book).
