Got this 2 levels too late.
A useful book for students new to University assignments and exams, though I think the information provided is useful for students from all walks of life.
As an old student, one pursuing a PHD and having been in the work force for the past 26 years, all the topics are familiar. We know we must do as described to be a successful student.
However, students will always be students. We make the same mistakes all over again each time we pursue an academic interest. We study last minute, notes are not clear nor coherent and we gossip too much. There is no cure.
That said, i thought two chapters were especially useful for me.
Chapter 2, table 2.1 which defines common instructions such as analyse, compare, contract, discuss...and Chapter 7, citing information. The former, is handy to know, and the latter is essential to know; less we be caught in a plagiarism scandal.
Both these topics are not normally looked at in most working environment (for those relying on working experience) and the tips provided were useful when tackling assignments or exam questions.
