This is the first book I’ve read by Dianne Hunt Smith. I really enjoyed her writing style.

Mystery at Chilmark is an entertaining and well-written story that I truly enjoyed (even though supernatural occurrences isn’t something I normally read) and I became totally absorbed!

In Martha’s Vineyard, Kat is a strong woman who is not afraid to dive deeply into her family history and try to solve its dark secrets. Get ready for the supernatural!

Special thank you to Briley & Baxter Publications for this great book!

“Mystery at Chilmark” follows Kat as she explores her family history and finds a spiritual connection with an ancestor. Dianne Hunt Smith’s descriptions thoroughly flesh-out Kat’s hometown with charming imagery while simultaneously explaining the history of Kat’s ancestors. The book ultimately centers around Chilmark, and allows Kat to engage with her childhood surroundings while also uncovering several mysteries. The story keeps a good pace, allowing Kat to find just enough clues to keep the readers in anticipation.

The story has a personal feel to it. It confines the overall plot to just a few characters and settings, making it feel focused and intimate. The contrast of natural and supernatural also feels new and refreshing, especially since Kat (after her initial surprise) takes each event in stride. The plot comes together full-circle by the end, concluding satisfactorily while also hinting at just enough to make readers want more. I’ll be looking forward to more mysteries from the Eye in the Sky series!

In this debut novel by Dianne Hunt Smith, a gifted character unlocks family secrets with assistance from the beyond. The reader follows the main character on a journey toward learning the history of her family, aware that there is a mystery that has yet to be discovered. While on this path, she finds that her gifts have strengthened, as she is able to connect with the other side.

This is a cozy mystery with interesting characters. Being from MA, it was fun to read about some of the towns the character speaks of. The dynamic between the main characters and other characters is quite imaginative. The suspense and excitement over the secrets the character unravels, both within her family and within herself, is engaging to read. I’m looking forward to what will come next in this series!

An engaging start to the Eye in the Sky series. Kat MacIntyre arrives on Martha’s Vineyard with her rescue dog Dash and a set of unusual gifts she rarely discusses. What begins as a work assignment quickly becomes a personal investigation into her family’s mysterious past and a long-lost fortune. Smith blends cozy mystery, light supernatural elements, and a strong sense of place into a quick, enjoyable read. Kat and Dash make a winning team, and the Vineyard setting shines. A solid five-star debut.
