Faith Thinking: The Dynamics of Christian Theology

Rate this book
Faith thinking is a fascinating exploration of the nature and role of theology in our postmodern intellectual context. Forging a path between the twin pitfalls of objectivism and relativism, Trevor Hart's essay clears ground for an understanding of theology as faith seeking understanding. Here is an illuminating and invigorating engagement with a wide range of important thinkers and issues of signal importance for engaging in theology today. Faith Thinking is must reading for every serious student of theology.

Academic style requires thick prose, but there are enough glints in this book to wish that I could sit down with Hart for a chat. Good insights, well argued.

Not an easy read. Heavy academic writing with long sentences. However, the author provides a full treatment of how we think regarding theology.

It is rare when a book on theology, which seeks to take the concerns of post-modernity seriously, does so with such passion and honesty. It was hard in the beginning but that was a preparation for the beauty to unfold over issues on the authority of scripture, the restoration of faith in theology, and the kind of locating the church should do in this day and age. I LOVED it and I would heartily recommend this book to anyone looking to go deeper in 'faith seeking understanding.' Onward!

A tough but rewarding read. Hart starts with a philosophical review of how we can know anything. He then relates this to how we arrive at spiritual beliefs. There are some very provocative ideas in this book. I gained new insights on how to apply my intellect to my faith and how the two aren't in conflict with each other.
