We're done! My son still has to take the test for Chapter 12, but I can put the book on the shelf by Friday.
After using Jacobs "Elementary Algebra", we had to adjust to the depth in this book. It's definitely challenging. However, I think it is well-written and is a good book to follow the Jacobs book. I wish I had had more time to work through some of the problems myself. I also wish I had had the teacher manual to help plan assignments since some of the problems were obviously intended to be "challenge" problems.
I have gone through the first half of this book with three of my children and think it is an excellent math book. I had every intention of working through the second half by myself, but there are so many other demands on the life of a busy mom and so many other books to read. Hopefully, I will pick it up now and then but best to wrap it up here. I would have given this book 5 stars, but I am no math expert and didn't finish. I do recommend it though for home school families learning high school math at home, especially if one of the parents likes math and is willing to learn as well.
High points: good review problems before the start of each set of exercises and great step-by-step, real life problems.
