Trueta, by Angels Aymar is a sensitive recreation of the story of the orthopaedic surgeon Josep Trueta (1897-1977) and of his personal, professional and political dilemnas derived from his development of a revolutionary technique in the treatment of the injured in Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War and in the UK during the Second World War. In this play Aymar portrays Trueta's struggle within both Catalan and British social and professional contexts within which he worked. This book will be of interest to readers concerned with The Spanish Civil War, and with Catalonia. Trueta is published here in England and Catalan, with an introduction by the translator Dr Montserrat Roser i Puig.
