Design of Low Voltage and Low Power Operational Transconductance Amplifier

As electronic devices are scaled down to the nanometer levels and all devices are almost portable and battery operated. As technology node is at its extreme low levels, these devices are required low power supply for operating the circuits otherwise they can damage easily. Amplifiers are main component or part of any electronic devices. With the elapse of time new designs of amplifiers are presented. For example, Cascode Amplifiers, Folded Cascode Amplifiers, Telescopic Cascode Amplifiers, Recycling Folded Cascode etc. This study represents a low power Recycling Folded Cascode Operational Transconductance Amplifier. The presented circuit works at 0.5V of power supply and consumes power in nanometer levels which is requirement of battery-operated devices. The first presented circuit is design under technology node of 180nm. All the devices which are used for designed the circuit are working under weak-inversion region. It is observed that the presented circuit gives large enhancement in gain of the circuit then previous technologies. It consumes only 3.96nW power which is very less comparing to other circuits. After that some changes are done on the circuit and circuit is simulated on 90nm of technology node. This designed circuit also provides great enhancement in some parameters like gain, transconductance and power. This circuit is having very small area which is observed from layout of the circuit. After that again some changes are done on the circuit and take it to another lower technology levels which is 45nm. All three designed circuits are providing enhancement in various different parameters. These three circuits are using very less area, low power consumption then other circuits which are previously presented. All the Simulation work done on the Cadence Virtuoso Environment 6.1.6 software.
