Defiance: A Chronicle of Courage

Rate this book
A true story of one woman's courage as she escapes Aytollah Khomeini through the Iranian desert only to meet the same kind of harsh treatment here in the United States by the federal government.
Zahra wasn't born into wealth, but her father, Nasser Rahimzadeh, a general in the Iranian Army, accumulated almost a billion dollars through hard work, dedication and good luck. Then, as the Shah of Iran fell, so did the fortunes of the general. Barely, escaping with his life , he fled Iran in 1980, leaving behind his young daughter, Zahra, with her two small children. Years later, Zahra was able to escape, but was abandoned in the bleak and punishing desert of Eastern Iran and left for dead.
This book chronicles the hellacious experience of that exodus and her unbelievably harsh treatment by U.S. authorites as she tried to live here in the United States.
