This book is a retelling of the greek mythology. The great stories of Medusa, King Midas and Pandora and also introduction to lesser-known myths like Orpheus, Eros & Pysche and Minotaur, a creature born out of unusual union was discussed in this one.🤌
The twist in this one that resonates with the mordern psychological thought process is just🤌✨

There are about 13 retellings in this book and all were great to read. ❤️

We all know, how hard and challenging it can be to read and understand Greek mythology because of its vast nature but the language used here was easy to understand and beginners friendly which made it easier to understand the read✨

I don't think I've ever read any greek mythology's, just heard about them from here and there, still I liked this one a lot❤️🤌

"Tales of a Spiritual Sun" by Paul Kiritsis offers readers a fresh and captivating take on ancient Greek myths. Through a skillful combination of modern twists and contemporary settings, Kiritsis presents familiar tales such as Medusa, King Midas, and Pandora in a whole new light. However, the book's true allure lies in its exploration of lesser-known myths, including Orpheus, Proteus, and Psyche, providing readers with a comprehensive and diverse collection of reimagined stories.

Greek mythology is deeply ingrained in Western culture. Many aspects of literature, art, and even language have been influenced by these ancient stories as they explore timeless themes and universal human experiences, thereby allowing everyone to understand the origins of various references and symbols that are still used today.

This is the reason why it is said to be a treasure trove of captivating stories filled with tales that have drama, adventure, love, betrayal, and epic battles, making them highly engaging and entertaining, all the while sparking the imagination and inviting people to enter a world of wonder and fantasy.

In such regards, ‘Tales of a Spiritual Sun’ takes readers on a captivating journey through Greek mythology, presenting a fresh and modern perspective on both well-known and lesser-known tales. Written by author, Paul Kiritsis, it skillfully weaves together the timeless allure of ancient Greece with a contemporary twist.

My favorite story from the collection would be Mind Games, which delves into the story of the enigmatic Theban Sphinx, a complex character in Sophocles' renowned play, Oedipus. Its portrayal showcases a conflicting role that adds intrigue, along with the incorporation of a well-known riddle associated with the Sphinx, cleverly integrated by the talented poets and playwrights of the later Hellenistic period.

As the author has rightly stated, choosing to contemporize or reconstruct any ancient myth, particularly a fragment of universally recognized mythological discourses can be an incredibly daunting experience, however, if done right, it can bring extreme pleasure of reading, which is what happens here as well, hence I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One of the highlights of this book is the author's ability to view these stories from new angles, presenting them in a way that feels both innovative and thought-provoking. Greek Mythological Fiction - another new concept I tried this year. I am well aware of Indian mythological fictions and I am aware of most of the real stories, so I recognize where they differ from the actual story. But this one was a greek mythology, of which I know the bare minimum. I am quite fascinated by these tales. I find a unique link and resemblance between Indian and Greek mythological tales. That was the reason I picked up this book.

This book contains the retelling of some lesser known stories in an entirely new system. So for me this book served as a story book rather than being a mythological fiction book. I was not aware of the original stories neither were the characters known to me, so I enjoyed these stories with an entirely new lens. These stories relate to age old customs deeply rooted in our society. Our language, culture, art and all other forms are deeply influenced by Greek stories and these stories - though not original, link to them. It was fun to read and know a perspective to those concepts.

This is an easy and entertaining read. We get to know more about the stories around. But yes these are just a retelling of those stories and not the original stories. They include some modern elements. What I loved about these stories is that the characters are grey. They are not righteous but they have fixed intentions and emotions. The language is easy to follow and you will learn some new vocab too. Take it slow - one story at a time to enjoy them. Recommended.

Author Paul Kiritsis transports us to the world of myths through what he calls thirteen retellings. Although he recognizes that there are three main sources of myths in Western culture: Norse, Greek, and Roman, Kiritsis has as the source of his thirteen stories Greek mythology, which he immersed himself in as a child. Some of these stories maintain the timeline and plot of the ancient Greek stories and others only have the framework where the author himself indicates that he takes the fundamental concepts of the myth, transporting them to the present day. The stories are very interesting and attractive, managing to attract the reader's attention. For those who are familiar with the tasks of Hercules, Odysseus, Perseus, Jason or Theseus, it is undoubtedly a book that they have to read and for readers who have not delved into the classics of Greek mythology, this book can awaken their interest.

Paul Kiritsis' Tales of a Spiritual Sun presents Greek mythology from a compelling and fresh angle. In a collection of rewritten stories, Kiritsis examines mythology from lesser-known figures like Orpheus, Proteus, and Psyche as well as well-known ones like Medusa, King Midas, and Pandora. My attention was drawn to the book's cover and titles since they were unique and conjured images of ancient times.
The author's unique viewpoint and gripping narrative transport readers on a riveting trip through well-known and obscure tales, producing a book that will appeal to both fans of mythology and those seeking a new reading experience. This book is a testament to Kiritsis's ability to retell classic stories while remaining loyal to their original meaning.
I recommend this book to each and every person who are literally interested in Mythology.

Diving into the pages of "Tales of a Spiritual Sun" was like stepping into a realm where ancient myths and modern sensibilities intertwine with eloquence and depth. The preface beautifully sets the stage for a collection that effortlessly bridges the gap between mythological narratives and contemporary insights. As I journeyed through these reimagined stories, I was struck by the author's ability to infuse age-old characters with new life and meaning. Each tale feels like a doorway into profound introspection, prompting readers to ponder timeless questions about the human condition and our connection to the universe. The author's narrative prowess shines brightly, showcasing his deep understanding of both the mythic realm and the intricacies of the human psyche. I am still in awe of this book long after finishing it.
