Not your typical read which is to be expected from Kim Pritekel. Not my typical read. I am not a big fan of the mythical but I am a fan of the author. I am glad I read this book. The read challenged me to think more about reading outside of what I typically read. Braxton Crowley, her mother Margot, and her father Fletcher, what a triad. I rode the heartfelt, emotional rollercoaster of discovery with Braxton. Asima/Rebecca was such an interesting character who was difficult not to like. The happenings going on while Braxton was recovering had me thinking about life, challenges, friendship, certainty, uncertainty, family and so many other things in life. It is stories like this that make me love books and storytelling. I was swept up in this complex story of family and friends. The idea or having someone looking out for you was so very appealing. "I'll always be there Braxton. Never far away."
A rare book. Braxton's coma is the perfect excuse to show a strange world, perhaps inspired by what happened to her mentor. However, it is not your typical romantic book so it can not like women used to read something more "traditional". Original as always Kim.
