Naamiona terve mieli : kuinka kohtaan luonnehäiriöisen?

Rate this book
Monet ihmiset joutuvat kohtaamaan luonnehäiriöisen ihmisen lähipiirissään ja kokevat sen takia kenties suurta kärsimystä ja ahdistusta. Usein luonnehäiriö paljastuu vasta useiden vuosien kuluttua. Miten luonnehäiriö määritellään? Miten luonnehäiriöinen ihminen kohdataan ja kuinka hänen kanssaan tulisi elää? Raimo Mäkelä esittää kirjassaan viitisenkymmentä luonnehäiriöiselle tyypillistä piirrettä. Kirjan tarkoituksena on auttaa luonnehäiriöisen lähellä eläviä ihmisiä ja lievittää heidän kärsimyksiään. Paljon julkisuutta saanut kirja ylsi keväällä 2002 Mitä Suomi lukee –listalla 10 suosituimman tietokirjan joukkoon.

I have read several books about narcissism and I have to say this was my least favorite of them. Not that it wouldn't contain accurate information about it - but it's the style of the book that sets me off. It's written for practicing, believing Christians. For others all the Biblical quotes and explanations can get a bit too much.

Also, even though the book says it is aimed at the victims and helping them - most of the book is about recognizing a narcissist. I would have expected more advice for the victim - how to move on, how to deal with all the feelings the narcissist's behavior makes the victim feel. The book could have benefited of a chapter dedicated to how living with a narcissist makes the victim feel.

As a good thing, it's a small, easy to read book that provides basic information about narcissism. If someone has already read other books about narcissism, I think you may want to skip this one.

Firstly, most of the things I read I already knew from before. Secondly, it was written in a childish way and I noticed at least one spelling mistake as I was skimming through (could've been the translation). Thirdly, the Christian subjectivity made me sick. I don't recommend anyone to read it.
