ولد الدكتور محمد عزيز الحبابي عام 1923 في مدينة فاس.
هو أول عميد لكليتي آداب الرباط, وفاس
أسس شعبة الفلسفة بكلية آداب الرباط, وتخرج على يديه جيل من أبرز مفكري المغرب.
عضو أكاديمية المغرب, وأكاديمية علوم ما وراء البحار, والمجمع اللغوي بالقاهرة, والأكاديمية الدولية للفلسفة, والرئيس المؤسس لاتحاد كتاب المغرب, ورئيس جمعية الفلسفة بالمغرب.
له عدد كبير من المؤلفات الفلسفية والروائية والشعرية كتبها باللغتين العربية والفرنسية.
رُشِّح لنيل جائزة نوبل للآداب.
ترجمت كثير من مؤلفاته إلى اللغات الإنجليزية, والإسبانية, والألمانية, والروسية, والصينية.

عندما تمتلك فكرة جيدة للغاية وتدمرها ، هذا هو حال هذه الرواية ، لكن يبقي السؤال مفتوح لمن أراد النقاش ما الذي سيحدث إذا لم يعد هناك موت ، هل توافق علي شرب إكسير الحياة !؟

كتاب جيد تدور أحداثه بالعاصمة المغربية الرباط عندما اكتشف الناس طريقة للخلود و قضوا على الموت . بعدها ستعم الفوضى البلاد و سينشأ صراع حول امتلاك هذا الإكسير بين العامة من الناس .

One of my favourite genres in fiction is philosophical sci-fi. The premise of this little thing was genius. A simple poor carpenter who witnesses the good people of Marrakesh descend into a base vicious state when a newspaper announces that scientists have invented an immortality potion and that it will be distributed to everyone for free not realising that immortality for the poor only means endless suffering, only means entertainment and lifelong service for the already wealthy. He refuses to accept the vaccination and dies a poor man, whereas his son, a medical student who becomes instantly obsolete after the announcement, who looks to his father as an ignorant simpleton who doesn’t understand progress and technology comes to realise how the illusion of status that he had grown accustomed to during his studies is in fact merely an illusion and that he, too, better take up carpentry or some useful skill if he were to enjoy his upcoming years of immortality. The themes of generational clash when it comes to disruptive technology adoption, cultivating a life of purpose and simple pleasures, the significance and marvellous role death can play in helping us appreciate life are some of the predominant ones in this book. It was a pleasure to read in Arabic.

Personal Note: I own a cover less copy that I bought from a little bookshop in the old Medeina in Marrakesh and this was recommended by uncle Omar, the bookshop owner whom my travel companion and I had the pleasure of conversing with for hours. He left us with a profound question: How do you see the world today? Answer that and get a little closer to knowing yourself.
