Isn’t it fascinating to know that you can control your robots with the same television remote that you use in your home? Well you read it right! You are going to make many robots after reading this book! You can control any robot of your choice after understanding the basics of the IR receiver. We will be using a TV remote, Arduino UNO, servo motors, DC motors, TSOP1738 IR Receiver (Thin small outline package (TSOP)), few coloured LEDs and a few 3D printed parts. Even if you do not have a 3D printer, it is not an issue. We can use cardboard to fabricate the link of the robot. Endless number of projects can be made by using a combination of hardware mentioned in this book. Your imagination is the limit! You can see the output videos of the experiment
In this book there are four basic projects and two advanced projects. By understanding the basic projects, one can easily do the advanced projects on their own. The book is organized as The Chapter 2 teaches you how to install the Arduino software along with the required libraries. In the following chapter, that is Chapter 3, we will learn how to decode and note down the values assigned to the buttons in the TV remote. In Chapter 4 we will learn how to turn on and off an LED using the TV remote. In Chapter 5 we will study how to control a servo motor and in the following Chapter 6 we will control the forward and backward direction of a DC motor. In Chapter 7 we will learn to build a 3 axis robotic arm and Chapter 8 teaches you to control the two wheeled mobile robot. A few ideas and concluding remarks are given in Chapter 9. I am sure you will enjoy reading this book and build your own TV remote controlled robots.
