I have to say—I loved this book. It is a full throttle discussion of what anger is--the causes, how it often stems from the past, how it often evolves from another emotion such as disappointment, how it’s connected to expectations, and how it can be controlled.

The author looks at anger from every angle—how it’s affected by sleep, nutrition, exercise, time spent outdoors, time spent doing things which are self-fulfilling.

I was particularly impressed not only with the thoroughness of the discussion—this is not a quick read, but believe you me, a read that is well worth the time invested if you are sincere in wanting to change your behavior and have a better relationship with your children but I was also impressed with the down and dirty tips and tricks that the author suggested when you feel that anger bubbling up. For example, the idea of physically nodding, of asking yourself whether you’d be angry with the same issue five months from now, the taking a quick time out to breathe. These are just some of the small but effective techniques you can use rather than lose control. They all lead to question—are you in control of your anger or is your anger in control of you. When you realize that feeling intense anger releases cortisol into the body, it is something you probably want to avoid, if possible.

I highly recommend this book for parents and for anyone who feels their anger is getting the best of them. 5 stars.

I have had anger issues for most of my life and have made efforts to deal with it a few times. It has been getting worse lately, and I downloaded Diffusing Anger by Sasha Woodley. It is a self-help book about recognizing your anger and then taking steps to mitigate the issues.
What hit home with me was the chapter Destigmatizing Anger So We Can Truly Address the Problem. I found a lot of helpful advice there and have been following it. I notice a positive difference and feel a lot better. Sasha has a nonjudgmental approach that is easy to follow, and I have learned a lot about myself. I also discovered a lot about other people in my life.
I recommend this book to anyone with anger issues who wishes to live happier. I hope you find this book as helpful as I did.

very informative

I really took away a lot of notes from this book. I’m not a parent but an adult child that deals with angry parents and this gave me a lot to sit down and break down to them.
