Jason Drake learns a valuable keep your friends close, or your enemies will hunt them down.
The mysterious Russian group known as Chaos Magnum is left reeling after their sudden defeat. And while Magnum's leader, Vladimir Alexandrov, still desires power, his sights are aimed firmly on the man who stopped him in Jason Drake.
What follows is a rip-roaring spy thriller pulled straight from the headlines. From the grimy streets of Amsterdam to the dusty deserts of Sudan, the action never stops.
If there's only one spy action thriller you can read in 2023, this is it.
The Assassin's Contract is the sixth entry in one of the most full-throttle CIA assassin series to hit bookstores in decades. It has been created from the ground up to fill the space between Jason Bourne and Mitch Rapp. The extensive series sees a new novel every four to six months.
Auston King is an avid reader who has consumed every Tom Clancy, Brad Thor, Lee Child, Vince Flynn, and Robert Ludlum book he could get his hands on, and he wants to share stories that entertain, provoke, and leave you wanting more.
Not one of the better Jason Drake books. It might be a good idea to read a synopsis of the last book as this one jumps right in assuming the reader knows or remembers what happened last.
Sierra is off to Italy alone, Jason is on assignment in Amsterdam to take pictures only - yeah right. There is a second team there following weapons and of course Jason can't seem to stick in his picture taking lane. He travels from Amsterdam to Sudan following the sale of the weapons but always seems to be a bit late. The US embassy is leveled, Jason is in jail and Sierra is missing.
A cliffhanger to get you to read the next installment.
Big plot started in previous books continues and Jason is dealing with it although he would have preferred to be not involved. There are some situations just announced and suddenly being over in the next page with no more details about it; a man who is supporting bad guys because his daughter was kidnapped, helped Jason and, after that, he is moving with him to get her back....next page Jason is informing he was delayed because he was helping that guy and I don't that.
Another fast enjoyable read in the Drake continuing saga. It's a quick plot with enough vignettes to keep the reader rapt until the end. The only distraction is the numerous grammatical and syntax errors which are common to reliance on AI assist in writing without adequate proof reading. Still I look forward to continuing the series.
The biggest problem with this book is the reader doesn’t feel anything for lead character Drake. It’s spy by the numbers without evoking empathy for his plight. There are action scenes and some good twists, but also an escape that is too easy. Sets up a cliffhanger for the next in the series.
I could get more intrigue from a comic book. This author has bad dreams and tries to squeeze all of them into a never ending story with no continuity. I’ve been wanting to read the reconnect with Jason’s daughter; I labored thru 3-books hoping to get there. Now I find book 8 isn’t even published yet. I may not make it there in September.
This was a fast paced story with solid twists and turns. Life in the Sudan and Taiwan makes the craziness in the US look calm. I love all the a special forces guys as they always find a way out of tough situations and do it with humor. Well done.
Damnit cause I hate when these books end. This book entertains, it plays out in your mind as you read it like an action-packed, nail biting movie of the highest caliber. Just have to wait for the next one.
The story line keeps you coming back, but the typos and grammatical errors at times makes the story confusing as to which character is speaking. Plot line is still good, though.
The Assassin’s Contract: COA Assassin (Jason Drake Spy Thriller Book 6)
Really moves the story forward. Strong characters. Emotive characters. International complications. Jason makes a surprising choice at the end. Great read.
This one was not as good as the previous books I read on this serie. Things occurred too conveniently making it not so believable. I hope the next book will be better...
Whatever you are paying your editors its too much, poor English and poor punctuation. It seems as though English is not their first language. If nor, use someone who is adept.
I have read several of this series but feel this one was not developed. Could certainly tell a few chapters in how the remaining chapters would play out.
Good story. However, the author needs a better editor. I lost count of the number of mistakes, including getting the names of characters wrong. A lot of grammatical errors.
Quite frankly, this was a bit of a level down considering the previous volumes. The writing was simple (like it was designed for primary school kids), and there was little suspense.
