Sarah races to uncover the cause of the darkness that has engulfed the planet and learns that the entire world has been plunged into darkness. She sets out on a treacherous journey to reach her parents, accompanied by Adam. Along the way, they rescue two young girls and escort them to safety, but unknown dangers still lurk as they continue their journey. Will they make it back alive?
Great read for those who enjoy a good end of the world story! I was amazed at how Marie was able to squeeze so much into only 241 pages! At around page 200 was getting worried that either the story would abruptly end leaving the reader hanging, or would be surprised to find at least two more books in a series. I'm happy to report that Marie was able to tie up any loose ends with a great finish! So if you like end of the world books intertwined with intrigue and romance, this one's for you! Job well done Marie Willens!
From the very start of the story I was hooked. Each page was bringing information for prepping and what to look for one step ahead, planning was without a doubt the best. Marie Wilkens brought it all together especially when John arrived.
This is similar to many of the EMP type books out there, but not as violent. Sarah works at a correctional facility in the south, and her parents are still in the northeast. The EMP hit means her trip back home will take longer than expected, and will be more dangerous. I won't say to much about this and give anything away. I enjoyed reading it.
Really enjoyed this book. A solar event wipes out most of the worlds power and sends them back to days of old. What I liked best about this story was the fact that while evil was present the author kept it to a minimum and showed how much good can triumph over evil even in the darkest times.
Like most EMP books, this was a fun, fast-paced read. Marie Wilkens is one of the best authors of the genre, but she desperately needs a good editor. The book is riddled with errors such as "flower-covered hands" instead of "flour-covered," "rouge" instead of "rogue," and "they're" instead of "their." I finally had to stop reporting content errors; there were too many.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book very much. It was very hard to put it down. I hope the author writes a second book about further adventures of these characters will definitely buy it. Very well written and I thank the author for writing this story.
A great page-turner. I'm looking forward to the next one! Thank you Marie Wilkins for your talented and descriptive way. Fast-paced and a very enjoyable experience.
This was a surprisingly fun, quick read that was mostly error-free. Best enjoyed in a cozy nook, with a warm cup of coffee or tea. You may find yourself making a mental checklist of all the ways to prep for an apocalypse.
Too much time to tell this short storyline. The story left out too many details about the solar outrage effect on the whole world. Left room to use your imagination. Reminders of how violent and fragile people are in crisis.
The author cramped a lot into to the story and it worked. It was a pleasant end of the world story - bit unbelievable to start with the relationships but that is fiction.
As always this narrator does a superb job and just escaped into the story.
