In keeping with the ideas, inherited tales, and legends, which strive to explain nature’s phenomena, Colin and the Legend of the Weeping Willow does not disappoint. This is a creatively crafted work that strives to explain one such phenomenon—the weeping willow. Like many legends, it uses cultural beliefs and practices while also introducing some Native American values, their heritage, and practices. An endearing account of how the weeping willow came to be is recounted by a grandmother to her very inquisitive grandchild.
If youre looking gor a book to give a little cultural breadth to your kiddos thus is a good one. An enjoyable read about a little boy who visits his grandparents. While visiting his grandma shares the legend of the weeping willow with him. The author nicely combines the visit with grandparents experience with a deeper story about native American legends while having the grandmother share a legend with the child. Well written, the story is spread through the pages well to keep moving along without getting stuck on a page and has very nice illustrations.
I've finished reading this one. The story is great and very informative of the culture and traditions of native Americans. Also, the flow of the story is easy to follow. I love the Illustration as well, it captured the emotions and the settings of the story. I recommend this one for your kids<3 Kudos to the Author and the Artist of this book<3
The weeping willow is a beautiful tree. I loved that this was made into a story I read it to my daughter although she didn’t understand all of it she enjoyed all the birds and the beautiful pictures. I love how sweet his grandma was and how warm it felt.
