I don't know why but I feel drawn to New Mexico design furniture. Maybe I was a Pueblo Indian in another life? Kingsley Hammett has carved out a bit of a niche for himself (Pun intended - you may smile) in this area of design history. This book is not such a homage to the past as his other books. Rather it's a guide to making new furniture in the classic New Mexico design. I prefer my pieces to look new anyway. I have done "distressed" copies of historical pieces - but I prefer to make them as if I was the original maker and trying to imagine how the few surviving, historical pieces would have looked when they were brand spanking new.
