The Logic of Consciousness : Understanding the Evolution of Sense
When we look at our conscious body, the material body seems a marvel but consciousness, a mystery. What is this immaterial looking substance in our material body? Why is it here and how? Is it caused by the material body or is it the other way round? How do these both stay together and work together despite having opposite nature? The presence of consciousness baffles us.
While the material world seems explicable, the presence of consciousness in the physical world does not even seem logical. Not only there is no logic explaining why and how it is there, we are also not clear what it is all about; a material, a phenomenon or something beyond. The irony is that only those who believe in possible existences beyond logic, are the ones who are confidently offering theories about it. Scientists who are successfully working on consciousness through material tools, are failing to provide any logical bridge between material and immaterial. The hard problem of consciousness is proving to be a hard nut to crack.
The Logic of Consciousness offers a logical path to catch consciousness as it is, undisturbed by subject/object dilemma. Preceded by the book The Sense of Being, it tells an uninterrupted logical story of consciousness from the very beginning and shows the way to locate it. Understanding consciousness as the software of material world solves the enigma of consciousness by pointing to the source of immateriality in the physical world itself. In the process, the Hard Problem of consciousness also finds a closure. The proposed logic also deals with today’s challenges in the field such as; why do computers seem lifeless therefore, unconscious, despite their remarkable information processing capacities which have even accomplished brain-computer-interface?
