Sholom Aleichem tells stories that are both honest and funny. His way of getting into little boy's heads is realistic and he creates ridiculous plotlines related to different Jewish holidays. Some of these stories are better than others, but you can learn a lot about the Jewish history of that time by reading all of them. Unfortunately I don't know Yiddish, I feel reading it in the original language would be such a privilege. Definitely a collection I will keep on the shelf to pull out during different holidays and read aloud!
