A database is anything that keeps data records. It could be a file, CD, hard drive, or another kind of storage medium. From the perspective of programming, a database is a meticulously organized store of indexed data information that users may simply use for adding, removing, updating, and creating new data. Data can be kept in many different ways. A database is needed by the majority of apps to store information.
There are two different kinds of relational databases and flat databases. A flat database, as the name suggests, has a two-dimensional layout with all the data fields and records kept in a single big table. It cannot store complicated information, necessitating the use of relational databases. Data is kept in a relational database in a number of connected tables.
Let's use a school as an example. Multiple pupils' data will need to be maintained by the school. We shall first inquire about the student's class to find out information about them. We will ask for the first name after the class name. In contrast, we will request the surname if there are two children with the same first name. Even if two kids have the same name, we can still distinguish between them based on things like their student ID, parents' names, dates of birth, siblings who attend the same school, etc. All of these material is related. When all of this data is kept on paper, retrieving it takes a long time. All of this information is accessible quickly because to relational databases.
