Before Lynne Truss, there was Edwin Newman, poking fun at our collective misuse and mangling of English. Surprisingly funny, for a newsman who came across as so dour, but he has a quick wit & droll sense of humor that make the whole thing a lot of fun to read.

I lugged this around with me for years before I bother to read it, and by then it was too late. He seemed very stodgy to me.
