Twelve-year-old Laura Lee and her thirteen-year-old partner, Patric, have their sights set on the Junior Pair skating championship at the Montreal Grand Prix. After months of preparation, they are almost ready for the performance of their lives. Well drilled in their lifts and spins, the two skate like a dream together. But a training accident puts Patric out of action. Laura's dreams are shattered --unless she can find a new partner at the last minute. Laura has seen a boy at the rink with natural talent but no training. Can Scott turn into the perfect partner in just two weeks?

Jenny was born and brought up in Harrogate, Yorkshire, she says that even as a child she wrote stories and made tiny books, complete with illustrations. At school her favourite subjects were English, although she preferred creative writing to comprehension, and Art.
Jenny went on to study English at Birmingham University, where she did research on the Bronte novels and on children’s literature. She has also taught modern dance.
She writes novels for both children and adults and, when she can escape from her desk, likes to spend time outdoors. Jenny still lives in Yorkshire and says that she loves the countryside and enjoys walking, gardening, playing tennis, riding and travelling with her two daughters, Kate and Eve
I read this in like 2012 and I loved it then... I completely forgot what it was called so I wasn't able to add it on Goodreads when I started here but I just found it again today so here it is... I LOVED it when I read it but now it was a solid read but not really life changing
Laura is a skater; she lives and breathes for going to the rink each and every day. So she is devastated when her parter becomes injured and can't skate for the big ice dancing competition coming up. But Laura won't give up so easily, and she sets out to find a new partner for herself. Then she finds Scott, a boy who has never ice danced before in his life, but is willing to take a risk, if Laura will take one along with him. This was a cute story that was intended more for middle school readers. However, the lessons are good and the main characters are engaging, making it a worthwhile read.
A great book.........with sooo much passion in it and a burning desire to be unbeatable.....the plot was good and the way it was presented was nice making this book really amazing.....TOTALLY RECOMMENDED TO EVERYONE!!!!!
I loved the book, it had major spinning out vibes and these characters were just younger versions of justin and kat + i’m convinced the coach was 10000% dasha😂
Super fun to read and so wholesome! Anything related to ice skating always leaves me mesmerised and happy✨
Took me longer as I forgot to read it but I read this book every year for Christmas. I love it! It’s such an easy read and the font is quite big so it’s easy to get through. Cute storyline too!! <3
DOUBLE TWIST finds Laura and Patrick gearing up to compete in an ice-dancing championship in Montreal. This time, they expect a medal. Their excitement overpowers the strenuous workouts, until an accident ruins their plans. When Patrick goes down, his knee prevents him from dancing again, until after the competition. Laura sinks into depression, until she thinks of a brilliant plan to stay in the competition.
During normal skating hours at the rink, Laura spies one boy showing off his footwork. He looks like he has all the right moves, and with a little work, she has a new skating partner. Keeping him as a partner is an entirely different matter. Boys tease him about ice-dancing, but Laura finds a way to make it more appealing. Together Laura and Scott work on a hip-hop ice-dancing routine. The uniqueness of their dancing could ultimately blow up in their faces, but they're willing to work like crazy and have a little fun to try something completely new.
This novel is great fun and will be popular with girls looking for more sport books. The book, set in the U.K., is half-Americanized, making the reader wonder exactly where it is located. At the championship, Scott and Laura are announced as the team from the U.K., but it's never revealed beforehand. Words like Mum and soccer make it a little bit hard for the reader to figure out the setting. However, this slight issue did not take away from the enjoyment of the book.
I’m obsessed with figure skating! That’s all the reason I needed to read Double Twist, an elementary chapter book about twelve-year-old Laura Lee, a junior ice dancer in Great Britain. When Laura’s moody partner, Patrick, is injured during a practice session, her dream of competing at the Junior Grand Prix event In Montreal, Canada, is dashed. Until, that is, she spots talent—and the rekindling of her hopes for gold—in the most unlikely person: soccer player, Scott, who just happens to have some fancy, if untrained moves on the ice. Can Laura whip Scott into the perfect partner in time to compete? And can Scott loosen up Laura with an out-of-the-box free dance?
My younger sister actually ‘recommended’ this entertaining book to me, and I consumed it in a couple of hours. I quibbled at the clichés (Scott being teased by friends for ice dancing, tough Russian pro) and some of the skills that the author described them performing (ice dancers DON’T JUMP, let alone do double twists, for Pete’s sake!). But the charm of this story is in Laura and Scott’s partnership, which starts off rocky, but gets stronger as they overcome obstacles both on and off the ice. This would make such a sweet television series.
:)There is not much to say about this book. The book is quit boring!!! It was a book to pass the time! During the summer i read anothor book by Donna King (who wrote double twist). The book was boring just like double twist! I reomend this book to people who want a quick realistice ficition book!!:)
