The Devil's Angel

Rate this book
In the middle of Las Vegas there is a woman that is the envy of all, sought out by any man who crosses her path, untouchable to those who crave her. Devrynne may look like an angel but what lies beneath her emerald eyes tells a story far different. A story of love, betrayal, heartbreak, death and vengeance. One so twisted that even Lucifer himself is about to wash his hands of her. She is at the top of the world, wealthy and more powerful than most in her position but it's because of years of playing Luc's games, learning how to work the system that has led her to be this way. Nothing can stop her now, when she is so close to being truly happy. That was until Mr. Casella showed up from an organization called the Guardsmen, holding all the keys to unraveling the web of lies she lived on. Now it is a race against time as Devrynne relives the horrible past, the lessons she learned in blood, trying to find a way to get out of being brought to justice for the death of her sire. Will she find a way out of the trouble she's gotten into without the help of Luc or will she have to make another deal like so many that has led her to be The Devil's Angel?

I do not post or write here. Goodreads cannot seem to stop bogus books from being linked to my account so I refuse to use their site until they address their design flaws.

I'm not reading anything currently and have only published The Devrynne Kaine Trilogy, and Here Be Monsters anthology with fellow writers I know.

It kept my interest, but the plot was a bit anticlimactic - several times while reading, I wondered if there was supposed to be a point to the story. Although the blurb describing the book makes it sound action-packed, most of it involves reminiscing about the past and the events leading up to Devrynne's blackmail in a Forrest Gump "let me tell any passing stranger about my life" kind of way.

While it had some novel takes on the old vampire/demon myths, giving it more substance would have made the whole book much better.
