Woodturning is a comparatively low-cost pastime. For $750 to $1000, you can get a mini-lathe, a set of turning tools, a sharpening grinder, a work lamp, and some protective clothing. A mini-lathe is small enough to fit under a bench. It only needs a minimal amount of space to set everything up. This book is intended to teach you about the tools used by turners as well as how to use them safely and effectively. You'll practice until you've developed a "feel" for turning. The session starts with the fundamental rules for safely and confidently turning spindles, then moves on to expanding your newly acquired skills to turning bowls out of green (freshly cut) wood.
