When people find out that I am a practising hypnotherapist, the questions always come thick and fast. Such as, can you make me, or my partner stop smoking? Can you cure my fear of (insert phobia here)? Alternatively, its “Don’t look into his eyes” or “I don’t trust anyone who can control my mind”. If that isn’t enough some religious groups consider what I do to be nothing short of witchcraft, and that I should be burned at the stake. (more of that later) “Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy. A Users Guide”. Aims to answer most of those questions, in clear language, and hopefully, it will dispel some of the negative ideas and beliefs people have about what hypnosis can and can’t do. I also share some of the personal interactions I have had with clients over the years, which may also answer some of the more complex questions I am asked about the efficacy of Hypnotherapy, it might even stimulate many others, all of which I am happy to discuss. Before I continue sometimes my approach is not conventional, it is far from it. Neither is hypnotherapy a panacea for all problems. Hypnotherapy has no side effects, anyone who decides to engage with a hypnotherapist, for whatever reason will have no adverse ongoing effect, if the treatment does not provide the desired outcome. In my opinion, the single biggest benefit, of hypnotherapy is quite simply this, anyone rejecting hypnosis or hypnotherapy quite simply rejects it, it is as simple as “no thank you” but on a subconscious level. You will take nothing away from a hypnotherapy session that you don’t want or need, apart from an interesting conversation, that might have cost an hour of your time.
