For many, going forward each day becomes drudgery. The woes of the world affect all in various ways and often the wish is to return to a time when life was better. But what if you found yourself whooshed back over three centuries...to another country? Imagine trying to cope with the differences in not only the language, but from enjoying modern technology and normal daily conveniences to having none. Be careful what you wish.
Portal to Loch Doon is a time travel historical romance, 57,000 words. Sexual tension-"behind the closed door" romance. Scottish dialect.
I love time travel books and this is no exception.
Learning something new from days gone by is really what the adventure is about , isn’t it? Scotland has been the topic of several books since Diana Gabaldon first introduced us to the six foot something dreamy Highlander This is another one. Look out Jamie your competition is here!
Maybe if this were the first or only time travel story I read, I would have had more appreciation. However, it was just too contrived and sweet enough to make my teeth hurt. It was hard to get into also. I put it down at least four different times as it just failed to keep my interest. After a few days I'd pick it up and try again and finally made it through. Not a book I'd term as keeper, as it was just ok.
It was all right. I didn't like the 'accented' words. It was a bit hard to read and get into when I was constantly trying to figure out what the heck people were really saying. The story was good and would have been even better without the accents.
