The Old West vividly comes alive through the story of the infamous James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickok. Readers will relive the classic Western gunfight as Hickock guns down a fellow gambler in Springfield, Missouri's town square. A staple of Old Western fiction, this public rivalry reveals the true code of the West—with sharp-shooting Wild Bill as its main attraction.
This is an 'older' child's book. (I checked it out for my advanced toddler granddaughter and it was a bit much for her.) I read it myself just because of the subject. It was a good book, how accurate it is I don't know. But it did include several actual photos of Bill or people in his life. This book was a nice one and fits with a television program I have watched in the past. Where "Wild Bill" really wasn't 'wild' at all and only a legacy was formed and he never could 'fix' people thinking 'bad' of him. In the back is a glossary of words so if you are homeschooling could use for spelling words.
