I enjoy biographies & used to watch Hollyoaks when Chloe was one of the characters, so this caught my eye at the library.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the book & it’s theme of acting a part to fit in. Mikyla is 6 foot tall, at one point weighed 24 stone & has ginger hair, so stands out wherever she is. I really don’t know how she managed to spend 4 years working with stick-thin blonde bimbos, but there you go …

Synopsis
“The Fat Girl From Hollyoaks” is the story of a girl who spent her childhood and teen years caught up in a cycle of binge-eating, gaining a stone every year of her life, to reach her early twenties weighing 24 stone. Despite this, she fulfilled her dreams of becoming an actress and for four years played Chloe on Hollyoaks, in a ground-breaking role as the first character on the show who didn’t conform to the glossy format. Mikyla went on to break her dependency on food and shed an incredible 9 stone to reach her healthy weight of 15 stone (and 6 foot!) today. She will never be skinny, but she is happy and healthy. This is a memoir about being different and suffering for it, and about having the courage to change your life.

This was interesting. I'd not heard of Mikyla Dodd before not being a fan of television. But her stories were moving and I came to admire her.
