This book serves as a solid introduction to coverage, though it hasn’t aged particularly well. Coverage is a unique skill that can be invaluable for aspiring producers and writers, and this book does a good job of providing the advice needed to excel in it. Some of its insights have become outdated, but only in the sense that advancements in technology have made many aspects of the process significantly easier than they once were.

The book’s age is especially apparent when the author references a recently optioned film called Total Recall, which was still in production and set to star none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. Despite its outdated elements, there doesn’t seem to be any other book dedicated to the art of doing coverage that I've been able to find, so it stands alone in the market. If you’re looking to learn the craft, this is pretty much your only option. Fortunately, it’s a decent enough one.
