Ramps and Pathways: A Constructivist Approach to Physics with Young Children

Rate this book
If you think the words young children and physics don’t belong together, think again. Based on the theories of Piaget and the work of DeVries and Sales, this book successfully makes the case for building a constructivist approach to physical science learning in the early childhood classroom.  Ramps and Pathways :

I need this book in my block area!
So many wonderful illustrated photographs. Well explained and outlined book. Mental illustrations is a huge component of constructivist teaching, and is well explained in the text. I love how numeracy is supported for emerging readers as well, as there are many opportunities to address numbers throughout this text as well. I recommend this. It's a high quality piece.

Ramps & Pathways, a Constructivist Approach to Physics with Young Children gives the preschool teacher a perfect guide to find a simple way to explain the physics that young children use everyday they build with blocks. It is an excellent reference book for teachers and will help them improve science skills and language skills as they work with young children when they build with blocks and other materials. I highly recommend this for a reference book to teachers to help bring science concepts to children at their level.
