An entertaining collection of previously unpublished Australian crime stories, from contributors such as Peter Corris, Marele Day, Garry Disher, Marion Halligan, Mudrooroo Narogin, Kate Stephens and Renate Yates.
Picked up I think at a Lifeline Bookfair when we lived in Canberra years ago. Very satisfying. Some stories better than others but some also really good. Familiar Australian authors that I read years ago and it was interesting revisiting them 30 years later. Author photographs provided at the beginning of each story including brief biographical information was particularly interesting on a historical level, knowing now how the lives of some of them turned out.
Genuinely scary read! All based in Australia and not a single story lets you down. They're are all plausible and have stayed with me even beyond Christmas!
Really enjoyed all the stories. Good cross section of approaches to crime and dubious motives for crime. The stories all very different both in style and content so you don’t feel overwhelmed by”sameness” as sometimes happens with themed anthologies.
