Excellent collection of stories by author on his life as a trooper in Alaska. Book was recommended to me by author Dana Stabenow, who used this book for background in her own writings.

Unfortunately, this book is out of print and runs for $80-100 online. Worth tracking it down, as I did, through a lending library.

I read many of the chapters in this book in the magazine Precision Shooting over the years. This guy is understanded and hilarious.

He used to work for all manner of major news outlets, was a ranger in Alaska before it became a state, and so on.

It happens I spoke to him on the phone over a riflesmith referral. A nice guy was Joe.
